What Do You Mean, There's No Grammar Minute?!
Welome to the Grammar Minute, where we're saving the English language sixty seconds at a time! I'm Lauren Smyth, and I haven't made an episode about every single problem you might encounter when you're writing in English. No, seriously. I know you can look back through the episode list and it might look like I've addressed every possible topic, but English is infinitely varied and infinitely bizarre. There's a lot more to be said. So, if you can't find a Grammar Minute episode that answers your question, where should you go for information?
Well, first of all, you should email me (thegrammarminute@gmail.com). After that, you should check with your preferred style guide. I did make an episode on which style guide is best for each type of writing, but popular choices include APA, Associated Press, and my favorite, Chicago. (Leave MLA in high school, folks.) When choosing a dictionary, pick one that was made in the country you're writing in so you don't get odd spellings. Avoid thesauruses as much as possible. If your work allows, don't be afraid to ask ChatGPT. This tool was created not to write your papers for you, but to help you search the internet more effectively.
